The Avenues
The Avenues in Salt Lake City is considered one of the city’s most progressive, trendy and desirable areas. The neighborhood lies just northeast of downtown Salt Lake, east of Capitol Hill, and houses the Salt Lake City Cemetery, and the 11th Avenue and Lindsey Gardens parks. The Avenues became Salt Lake’s first neighborhood in the 1850s, therefore housing many renovated or untouched Victorian-style and architecturally unique homes.
Some historic buildings in The Avenues consist of the Utah Governor’s Mansion, Cathedral of the Madeline, and LDS Hospital. The environment that the Avenues offers attracts young, single professionals and students, as well as wealthy, urban families. The historic, restored and quaint homes of The Avenues create a trendy, younger and somewhat ‘artsy’ environment.
The Avenues also offers plenty of apartment buildings, some of which are simply larger homes that have been turned into apartments. As a home buyer, this could prove a profitable introduction into the real estate market.
